Can I use gravel/ stones for a flooring in my run? Its not fine small stones, they're medium size. I'm quickly running out of flooring ideas. Thanks.

I think some people have used pebbles/stones, but I remember a recent post about how to clean them. I think that may be an issue. Have you considered Aubiose? A lot of us use that. As long as you cover Aubiose it lasts for weeks and weeks. And it's easy to clean out and compost.

Is that like elephant grass? I have a huge bale of that, buit find that it goes everywhere

It's chopped hemp. If you put a skirt round the run ( lawn edging and cable ties is one idea) then you'll find it's retained.

 

Other similar products are Easibed and Hemcore.

Is your run covered with a roof? i dont think you said. If it is then Easibed, auboise type bedding is definately great. But it does need to be kept dry.

Hi,

I put concrete slabs and stones inside the Cube run but the stones were so hard to clean inside that I removed them and replaced everything with slabs. I can now just disinfect and hose down without having to throw out poop covered stones. I have stones on some paths outside the run and I constantly have to replace the stones as the girls seem to enjoy digging them up and throwing them everywhere. I went with slabs as the girls don't spend much time in the run, they free range from 7.30 till bed time.
