Wanted - Eglu Cube Mk1 Roosting Bars

I just got my ebay bargain home and I read on another chicken forum about cleaning coops out with a solution of water/bleach/washing up liquid at a ration of 10:1:1

 

So I scrubbed it all - didnt find any of those red mite blisters that have been mentioned, phew! Plus I rinsed it LOADS, like I flooded my garden with the hose by the time we had finished, so there is no smell of bleach I can detect.

 

ANyhow, once I cleaned it I then came on here to print off the instruction manual .........only to find that it says do not clean it with bleach! Have I ruined my eglu, or will I harm my chooks?

 

My chooks are arriving at 6pm tonight so Im hoping its not the latter!

You have rinsed it well, so it should be ok.

 

Best to make sure that no puddles of the solution are around when the chickens arrive.

They will be in a totally different part of the garden so no chance meetings with bleach!

 

The only thing I have noticed now is that the egg hatch door is filled with water and I dont seem to be able to get it out, how do I get it ouut?

I got water in the door too, also in the back of the cube. There is a hole there somewhere so if you tip it just right, it should come out. Shouldnt worry too much about it though

They are all safely tucked up in their eglu until tomorrow, that was what was recommended for us to do anyway. So no pics til tomorrow! I cant wait to have a proper look at them
