Rain rain go away

Recommended Posts

I would love to share a photo or two... I had a couple of rather drenched girls rambling in the back garden this afternoon - and when the heavens really opened up they shot straight through the back patio door and straight into the lounge room in front of the telly! My God Babs was practically flying! Needless to say I had a rather damp floor!

But rest assured they both got the attention they wanted (towelled down and cuddled) and are now safely back outdoors (although they've decided not to freerange, but infact are in under their sheltered run).

What a fun afternoon they had :o)

(I think in all fairness I may be pampering them just a little too much... doh  !)

I wish my hens were so clever, they're really dumb when it comes to rain. In the garden I've kept an old ramshackle plastic table for them to shelter under, and also they have a wooden coop with wire run underneath that they can all retreat to, but my three girls just seem to stand in the rain and get soaked to the skin. They must be ok though, I've had them over a yr and none has ever had a chill or been poorly except for a foot infection after a thorn went into Gwen's little tootsie.

I wish they had the brains to go shelter, they all get grubby and bedraggled but they just wont let the weather get the better of them!
