Old Speckled Hen
From bocking like a hen my new cockerel found his voice this morning What a palaver it has all been. I ordered a trio of Vorwerks but a week before collecting them a fox got in and killed the cockerel. I did a deal with a guy in an auction car park (I know. I know. ) and got a wonderful replacement. The following day I collected the remaining two pullets. Having my suspicions about one of them I took them both anyway ( I wasn't happy with where they were living) and one of them was a boy.....serves me right,I guess. Anyway he has now been swapped for a crested cream legbar. BUT she is a little bigger than my cock and he is bullying her. SO I now have them separated and my little chicken area is looking like a shanty town with my original four in one hut, the Vorwerk and his wife in another and the poor little legbar on her own in a rabbit hutch. So I've ordered a I will leave them the weekend to settle and start working on introductions on Monday. Phew!!! Pictures next week when I get them out free ranging. Need names now .......I thought of Jumping Jack Flash for the boy Hubby said, "You can't name a cockerel after my father!" ................. "Don't be silly" I said "he's not named after your Dad "

scarlettohara
Know the feeling - it's like musical hens here I have 8 LF in a cube and WIR - all good. I then have 2 sets of bantam chicks in the eglu who refuse to integrate despite splitting them up into different pairs I now have to put them to bed or else one pair kicks the other out of the house
