Has anyone else out there had a reaction to the louse powder used on chickens?

I dusted 2 of my girls on Monday, careful to avoid touching it as always - but one of them ruffled herself as soon as I let go of her and the powder blew back onto me in the wind. I didn't think anything of it - just held my breath to avoid breathing it in as it has given me palpitations before.

Then Monday night after my shower my eyelids started to itch, so I moisterised my face. I had a really bad nights sleep, with all weird dreams, and when I got up in the morning I noticed a redness on my neck with a little swelling - as there is a definate crease there which there isn't normally.

I have this redness and slight itch on my neck, parts of my face including ears and on the top of my stomach with a slight pimply rash with a heat that feels like I have caught the sun.

I did have a bad tum sunday from eating crab that had been defrosted too quickly, but I was fine all day monday and the rash didn't appear till tuesday morning.

I'm sure I'm having an allergic reaction to something - just wondered if any one else had similar? Off to the chemist now to ask the Pharmasist if I can have some anti-hystamines as can't get doc's appontment today.

The one I use has a warning about allergies/contact, and it's one that's approved for use in organic systems, so I imagine it's quite likely you're suffering a reaction. It might be worth researching the ingredients so you know you're allergic to.

I sometimes get a red rash on my hands when I dust my birds, should really put gloves on So its not just you

Thanks very much for the response. The Pharmacist gave me an over the counter antihystamine. Still got the rash which itches when I get warm

I do think it was the powder, and will invest in some disposable gloves & masks for next time...... There was an ingredient on the side beginning with C (which I can't remember at the mo) which it states may cause an allegic reaction, oh well learnt my lesson there!
