Guess the sex - 7 weeks polands

Recommended Posts

Hey folks, having enjoyed a number of guess the sex threads on here I thought I'd post a few pics up of four of my polands who are just reaching their 7 weeks mark. I don't actually expect to accurately guess/know whether they're male or female yet, but I wondered if anyone might fancy having a go.

First is Beaker, my very first self-hatched bird. Chamois poland, and absolutely no idea as to whether boy or girl. Behaviour wise seems moderately bossy, brave and generally "middling"!!!

Then there's Twingo. now I'm fairly sure (if you can be sure) that Twingo is a roo. He tends to be the most noisy if I'm handling any of his three cage-mates, and also has very thick legs. I think there's the startings of a comb there too. He also is the keenest on being active, and wont stay still for a photo so I had to grapple him just for this! Of the four birds, he has the pointiest tail feathers, and the least hairdo.

Then there's Brian. (S)he was named at one day old by my son, so not an indication of what sex we think it might be! It's the biggest, but then as they are all none related, it might just be that it's a girl with larger parents, or maybe a roo, no idea.

And then there's Flappy, which is looking most like a girl of all of them. She has a very rounded crest, is the most reserved, very calm, almost to the point of being boring!

I will keep everyone updated as they grow up and see how things pan out!

I also have another 2 polands and 5 silkie chicks who are now 4 weeks 1 day old, but they're really far too little to even guess at their sexes. I know Rain (blue splash silkie) and Xanthe (mixed up mongrel poland 8) ) are facing off an awful lot though, far more than any of these 4 do!! When they get a bit more of a hairdo going on I'll post photies of them too.

Happy Guessing!!!

Here's hoping Emma! I'm going to be integrating the two batches of chicks and so will be trying to keep as many cocks together as I can by buying extra ladies in when they're mature enough.... so the better the ration, the less expense and the happier I will be to have just my own hatched chicks :D

Just spent the last hour and a half mite treating.... I have a huge shed to do before all the newbies get put outside though! I know what I'll be doing bank holiday weekend!!
