amateurkeeper
For the last week our large ginger hybrid has been sneezing occassionally. We thought it was just a cold so put a garlic clove in their water, and hoped it would help. However, over the last few days I've been at home so able to watch them all closely, and after it sneezes it seems to almost try to vomit, has it's beak open for about 10 seconds and then goes back to normal. Could it be sour crop? It's acting normally otherwise - scratting, laying, eating drinking as normal. Any ideas?
Christian
If you are really worried then a trip to the vet might be in order. Useful info in the frequently asked questions about sour crop **here** Have you changed the bedding at all? The sneezing could be dust related? Mr Rhode Island Red
My hens were at that for a while as well, crushed garlic in the water should eventually clear it up.
amateurkeeper
I don't think it's their bedding as we've always used hay/straw since we got them back in February, and the sneezing has only recently started. Thank you for the advice re: sour crop Christian, I will have a read and report back. Crushed garlic? Ok I will give that a try too - only used a whole clove so far, maybe the "goodness" isn't getting out. I'm dreading garlic eggs though.... Christian
Try citricidal from the Omlet shop. A few drops to their water can help the sniffles. https://www.omlet.co.uk/shop/shop.php?cat=Chicken+Keeping&sub=Health&product_id=207&product_name=Citricidal+45ML
