I need to get rid of a drake i think I am not sure I am getting more ducks but I don't want them harassed by 2 drakes. Yet I want to keep 1 drake because he is my fave. Yet the one I need i think to rehome has wonky legs I need someone to talk sense into me and tell me what to do re-home or not to re-home. Lesley Posted August 20, 2010 Share Posted August 20, 2010 Do you really need to keep a drake? - they are generally more trouble than they are worth and even one will hassle his ladies unless you have quite a few. If he is related to the ducks you have then you wouldn't really want to use him for breeding - you need an unrelated drake for that. If you do need to keep one then you need to keep the best one and as the other one isn't in perfect health then you need to see if anyone is willing to rehome him, such as a local farm, or find someone to despatch him for you. Guest Posted August 20, 2010 Share Posted August 20, 2010 I wasn't going to breed But the 1 I was going to keep is so beautiful and because I hatched them I am a bit sentimental but ok I guess I will find homes for them. miller30 Posted August 20, 2010 Share Posted August 20, 2010 Hi Rhys i kept father and son as i couldnt bear to part with one and it was a big mistake this time of year they are a nightmare the only racket you here from my garden is the 2 drakes chasing each others girls they have 8 between them i wish now i had rehomed one and to tell you the truth when they meet their maker i am never having another drake thats how much grief they give me sounds mean but i am anti drake now so if i was you i wouldnt um and ah about it rehome them they can go seperate if they are going with other ducks or together hope this helps leanne.
