chuckmum6
I am wonder when you would suggest switching to layer pellets? My chicks are 14 wks (2 cockerels and a hen) and are living with the big girls - who are all living on growers pellets at because of this. I am quite keen to switch back to layers for the big ones asap when do you think would be the earliest I can do this? I am thinking I could slowly adjust the mix over the next few weeks adding in layers bit by bit, I want to use up the growers that is left too (about 1/3 of a bag). chicken bark
I am thinking I could slowly adjust the mix over the next few weeks adding in layers bit by bit, I want to use up the growers that is left too (about 1/3 of a bag). I think that sounds like a good plan. I'd guess they should stay on growers until about 16 weeks, but given your situation mixing it from now seems like the best plan for all of them. Redwing
Dont mid it in too early, the layers will be fine on growers for now I have a chook whose growth has been stunted from laying too early due to being fed the wrong food by accident from 12-16 weeks, its not nice Start mixing in the layers at 18 weeks+. 22+ weeks if they are heavy pure breeds like Orps or Cochins
