Is it ok to feed this as a treat?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Being new to chicken keeping, I have a question...

I have bought some Bill Oddie's Mealworm Munch (contains: Cut Maize, Pinhead Oatmeal, Peanut Granules & Dried Mealworms), along with some Countryside Wild Bird Special (contains: Selected Seeds, Grains & Cereals) from my local 99p Store and wondered if it is OK to feed my hens (ex-batts) as a treat in the afternoons?

Cheers!

Ade

Hi, funny you should ask that! I have found out by mistake that my two girls GNRPP love the wild bird seed that I accidently spilt on the grass the other day - so I now give them a handful as a treat each evening - it contains, grain, pips, sunflower seeds, corn etc. So unless we hear otherwise I am going to carry on with this inexpensive treat!

Good luck.

Yup mine do the 50 yard sprint from run to bird table as soon as the run door is opened....... Sorry, should say mine does (as the newbies aren't out free ranging yet and as folk know I lost Spice recently so Ginger currently does the sprint on her own......if there are low obstacles in the way, it becomes the 25 metre hurdles!!!! :D
