Wanted: omlet eglu classic + run 🙏

... someone phoned me asking if I had any cockerels, which I thought would never happen! When I asked him why he wanted them he said he's got a light sussex boy, but he wants other breeds so he can hatch his own eggs and have interesting chicks... he also made a point of mentioning how its horrible that a lot of cockerels are killed.

I said I didnt havnt any, but out of courtesy said I would see if any local breeders I know do...

I'm afraid Im the kind of person who cant help but think the worst of a situation. Do you think I should be suspicious that maybe he doesn't want the cockerels for what he says?

I'd like to take people at face value but you hear of so many horrible things now I think we all can't help but be suspicious.

I know it's easy to believe the worst - but I always try not to. I would take him at face value, unless you have a good reason why not.

 

It might be exactly as he says, and just wants to try breeding some different "shaped" chicks.

 

And if you did have a "spare" cockerel, then I am sure you would want to see where the wee man was going to end up, and you could validate the person/environment then.

 

There are some "interesting" people out there - but they are a small percentage of the population as a whole fortunately!

My neighbour once came to me and asked if we had a cockeral, knowing that we had chickens. I asked him what he wanted a cockeral for and he replied that he had a broody hen and wanted to make her 'happy' .

 

He normally get fertilised eggs for her but thought he would try ' borrowing' a cockeral for a little while

 

Needless to say we haven't a cockeral but pointed in the direction where I knew one was......

 

Maybe he is wanting to make his girls 'happy'
