moulting questions

Recommended Posts

My Light Sussex has been broody for about a week, and today when she was out in the garden, she stood up from her dustbath and left a considerable amount of her feathers behind! I've not had a chicken moult before, and just wondered if I should be supplementing her diet whilst this is going on?...I feed layers mash, with a small treatball once a day filled with a mixture of dried corn and mealworms.. they have a corn on the cob and/or some greens most days too. Your advice, as always, will be much appreciated.

Thanks for the info....the cat might leave home if I fed her his food but I will increase the mealworms and feed her tuna when no one is looking....Also I do have some poultry spice which I had forgotten. I bought it when I first got chickens (as you do..I bought nearly everything and hardly ever bother with any of it) so off to make some Mummy's special mash for them now!
