jellykelly
Well, I reached the end of my tether this morning and decided the the three broodies need breaking. My little pekin, is such a fiery little moo when broody, she managed one peck too many! She was turfed out of her nest and a plant pot filled it. She immediately nestled down into the tiny spot beside the plant pot There's now a log and plant pot in there. Grrrrrr Broody number two is a cochin - she's only been laying a few weeks so I was not expecting broodiness this year. She's placid as anything but is so big that no- one else could squeeze in the nest box. She's been turfed out and distracted. Broody number three is my brahma bantam. She's still kind of being a mum to the ten week old chicks, has laid a handful of eggs and has decided that she wants to be a mum again Well stuff that, she's only just got her feathers back. So, she's in the sin bin. I have neighbours knocking daily wanting to buy eggs, but what with the brooding and moulting, eggs are in short supply.
