New run, house and introductions!

Recommended Posts

It is an exciting time in the life of my chickens!

Last week I managed to get a great deal on a used WIR with a cube, and today I got an email saying some ex-batts need rescuing this weekend! Perfect timing!

The only problem is I may now have to teach my old girls that the Cube is their new home (and that they have to use a ladder) while at the same time getting some ex-batts up to full strength in time for some introductions.

I was thinking I'd leave the ex-batts away from the other two for a few days and then pop them inside the WIR (protected with the Eglu run of course). Is this ok? Or is it a bit too soon for them to be meeting other chickens? I'm worried that my two will sit on the run and scare them or something. The other concern is that my older two might want to use their old home (the Eglu) to roost or lay in, and they won't be able too. Is it better to keep them apart for a bit longer?

Its going to be a busy week, thank goodness I have 7 days off work!
