fujcube
Hi all, We have just increased our flock from 3 to 10, driving down for our 7 new hens from the Wernlas Collection last weekend. As expected, there is a lot of tension in the coup along with numerous missing tail feathers!! Initially, I fitted all our 7 new arrivals with Bumper Bits to try and stem the flow of blood and feathers. However, after a while, I noticed that 3 of them were unable to eat due to the size of the Bumper Bit in relation to their beaks (Lavander Aracauna, Silkie and Silver Appenzeller). The Aracauna and Silkiehave since had theirs removed for good behaviour. Unfortunately, I can't say the same for the Appenzeller!!! I have cut the rounded end off the Bumper Bit so that she can get her beak closer to the ground but I think she is still able to do damage. Until their beaks are big enough for Bumper Bits, I thought I'd try the rings but so far am unable to track them down on the web. Does anyone know of somewhere I could buy them from? Regards, fujcube
Egluntyne
They sell them at the Wernlas Collection!! Give them a ring, they will put some in the post, for the price of a few stamps, or you can get them via Ebay.
