balti
Hello. Been reading up on past topics but cant seem to find any positive writing on these ducks and eglus. Is there enough room for 2 to stand up in the eglu and run?. I would of course let them out and roam but for part of the day they would be in there run. Is it enough for them? or too cruel?. I would get a massive trough of water for them but they will only access it when they are out. They would be out most of weekends and 3or 4 hours a day week days. I know this if fine for my chickens, but is it enough for these ducks? Thanks Trace
karlotta
I've only just got my runners, but I'm glad I didn't try to house them in an eglu - there definitely wouldn't be enough head room for them - they are really very tall! I think shorter ducks (call ducks for example) would probably be ok, but I'd say not runners.
balti
what have you housed them in?
karlotta
Mine are in a shed. They are quite clumsy so I think you need something with a tall door as well as being tall inside. (at least as tall as they are).
chicken bark
Have you looked at the large duck/goose house by Green Frog Design? Doesn't come with a run though.
balti
wow, I like those large duck ones very much, very cool.. such a shame there is no run attached. The area i have for my chickens, rabbits and hopefully 2 ducks is a closed off area but its not foxed proof, they will be able to jump the wooden fencing and get to the ducks if i leave unattended. Need to find a suitable enclosed run i think.
chicken bark
I use electric poultry netting instead of a run. Got the flexibility to be able to move it around. I can see their antics through the net and it is meant to be very effective at keeping the foxes at bay.
