After extensive research, :? we have finally ordered our long-awaited WIR from Bay Animal Housing :clap: . We are SOOOOOO excited and are just waiting to hear about our delivery date. Thanks to everyone who has helped and advised us over the last few weeks. My daughters and I have raised money by doing a car boot sale and selling unwanted goodies on ebay.

Yippeeeeee! :D:D

Thats so great. I hope your delivery date is asap so you can get it all put up and your chickens inside. :D

We are ordering the wire and wood tomorrow for ours, hubby insisting on making himself. We have the slabs down now so just need the supplies and time to get started. :D

Once we finally decided on it's location, we have opted for 12" x 5" x 6". It's not huge, but more than adequate for our 3 lovely ladies. The eglu will be outside for ease of cleaning, almost certainly on a table. I'm still debating whether to slab the whole area or just the perimeter. What do people think?

I always assumed that we'd just slab the perimeter but I'm amazed how deep their 'digging' is!! :o:o . I'd hate to get it all set up only to discover that within a couple of weeks, they'd dug major holes and trenches which would make the slabs rather unstable. I'm coming around to the idea that complete slabbing might be preferable. :?:?:)

Congratulations, well done on your fundraising endeavours! Mine is just perimeter slabbed and it's been fine - they have dug down quite a bit, but not enough to de-stabilise any of the slabs. I got the cheapest ones possible from a DIY store, and laid them on sand and they've been fine. I wasn't sure I was up to the work of slabbing the whole run, and I like them to have a bit of earth to scratch in.

Well done on ordering the WIR .

My WIR is completely slabbed - cheapo ones from B&Q; did you know you can order online and pickup at local store, they get them ready for you on a trolley and help load into car - so much easier.

My hubby is hopeless at DIY :shh: well he has other talents :D we put down our slabs I think 4 times in all :wall: before we were happy - so don't worry.

Photos - are a vital part of the process at each stage
