My son arranged on Saturday for them to come to where he was working on Monday to fit two new tyres.....they didn't turn up and they didn't phone. When he phoned them in the afternoon he was fobbed off with so many excuses, starting with "Satnav couldn't find the address" - when pushed thay had to admit that they hadn't even driven to the area, just put the address into their Satnav. My son tried to re-arrange it and they said they'd come today - when he asked for a time the man said he'd check and call back. He did but only to say that they couldn't do it as we're not in an area they service - we're "in a black hole" apparently So, despite claiming Nationwide Coverage..........it isn't Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

He said they were much cheaper than going direct. I don't know how, but it might be worth a look? (edited to make it clear where the tyres go!) jon_morritt Posted September 26, 2010 Share Posted September 26, 2010 I've heard of quite a few people who have booked etyres, only to spend half a day waiting for a fitter who doesn't show However, the reason why I would never use them is simply because there is no realistic way that you can propely balance a car wheel with a hand-cranked balancing machine in the back of the van. You need to have it on a concrete floor, otherwise much of the vibration will be absorbed, causing the wheel to remain unbalanced. The balancing machine should also ideally be driven by a electric motor, not by some guy trying to spin the wheel at a constant speed. It just doesn't work. The probable long-term damage to your car's suspension far outweighs the saving of a few quid in my book. Etyres are cheap for a reason. If their method of fitting tyres was any good then every major tyre fitting chain would be doing it as standard. They don't as they would be flooded with complaints about poor wheel balancing. Not to sure on about the effect on your cars suspension, but the wheel bearings!. Having a wheel bearing collapse at 70 mph on the M5, focuses the mind with a certain degree of edginess......
