Quick scarf knitting patterns?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Do any of you know of any good ones. The level of knitting isn't a problem, as I'm getting quite good now. I just want a nice looking stitch pattern that knits up quickly and you could do on reasonably big needles, (5mm+) using a DK yarn. I'm currently knitting a scarf in faggot stitch and it looks quite good, but I don't want to make too many like it as they're going to be for my friends at Christmas presents.

Any ideas?

can you do cable?? :D its really easy and looks dead effective

I found a pattern that used super chunky (knits up really fast) using 10mm needles :D its got a mega cable running through the middle of it.

I love knitting scarves - but they have to be really chunky wool cos I get bored really quickly

***this*** is a great site for patterns, all free, loads of ideas :D:D

hope this helps.

Hi liz,

You need one ball of Katia Ondas yarn or Rico can can & some large needles ( 8mm I think). This knits up into fab ruffle scarves very quick. They look brilliant. I've seen it on ebay or you can buy online from cucumberpatch. Another idea is to buy a loopa, actually I think I have one somewhere - if I can find it, I'll dig it out for you.

Or how about knitting some illusion scarves?

When looked at from a certain angle they have hidden pictures in. Someone on here knit them last year?

I think I found the patterns by googling - might have been on pattern central.

If you can crochet, then buy 1 ball of mohair & a large hook. Do a longish chain - then next row 2 trebles into each stitch for about 5 or 6 rows. It automatically curls like a ruffle. Very delicate & easy.

Have you also seen those scarf nets you can buy? I have 2 & you just weave any wools you fancy in the nets then you have a scarf. Those are great. Black sheep wools ( online) have them as kits.

I second the "curly wurly" scarves idea - even if you can't crochet very well. I am very much a crochet novice, but I have made several of these, one to special order! I can even work on them on the train. They are so quick and easy to make. Just make sure you make the original chain as long as you want the finished scarf to be.
