Britannia Ovens (esp Range cookers) your experience

I am getting a WIR next month, with Cube pushed up against the outside. We will be fitting an automatic pop hole opener to the panel adjoining the Cube, and the sliding pop hole door will be in the way of the Cube roof sliding forward.

 

I've resigned myself to reversing the Cube away from the run whenever we need to open the roof, but having thought about it, it seems that it may be possible to modify the fastenings (i.e. replace the runners) in such a way that the roof either opens to one side or the other, or hinges on the bolts at the back.

 

Has anybody else ever tried something like this?

No I've not modified my cube, but to open the back I stand it up on one wheel which gives jusy enough room the push the roof forward & my hand down inside to release the back catches

I think you need to be careful you don't compromise the security and weather tightness of the cube. But good luck!

Thanks for the advice. I will have to do some experiments when my WIR is in.
