Blue-DiamondChick07
I have another 2 Hens with a cold, should I use antibiotics? Or should I wait and see how they go? Fed up with all these colds now I have some antibiotics left over that I could use
Plum
You shouldn't give antibiotics without a vet but I would because otherwise you can get inflamation in oviduct associated with respiratory problems but I would give a proper course. Why not give vet a ring to get the ok.
Egluntyne
I agree, strictly speaking you shouldn't administer prescription medicines to an animal which hasn't been seen by a vet and had the medication prescribed specifically for it by a vet, as it may not be the appropriate treatment. Also, it may have gone past its use by date and be no use anyway. I'd give them some Citricidal, or take them to the vet.
coco
I've got two hens who have had colds. they have just finished antibiotics which the vet prescribed. Coco has had this cold for a few weeks now, I was hoping she would shift it herself but her chest is still quiet rattly so I think she will have to have a second dose.
