eating aubiose??

Recommended Posts

my girls are settling into their new WIR very happily. BUT... the aubiose is going into all the food and water containers, plus they are spending ages just pecking at it.

I have already raised one feed container on bricks to try and keep it reasonably clean, moved a water bowl onto one of the higher levels, and will investigate hanging feeders/drinkers I think.

but will they do themselves harm if they actually eat the aubiose?

thanks migsy - it's my first experience with using a bedding material, so am not quite sure what to expect! they do seem to like it, whether to eat/peck around in/lie in. and the bunnies love it! however although I got a good price on the 2 bales the delivery was expensive - £14!! - and 2 bales dont seem to have gone far in a 12' sq run, although it is the amount they recommend on pack for a horse box the same size.

Hi,

I would be careful about letting them eat it as i've read somewhere about it not being very digestable (Sp?)

I used to use it with my Tortoises & Chickens but i found the little strands was get tangled round their toes and it isn't very safe for tortoises if they eat it.

Personally, I think Hemcore goes further. Have you checked out if there are any equestrian suppliers near where you live so that you could save on postage?
