Unsecure chicken perches

I bought a cube because I wanted my 4 girls to have plenty of space however I have noticed Omleteers making statements about chickens keeping each other warm. I assumed that they would perch on the roosting bars but I have found that they snuggle in the nesting box. OH would probably go crazy if I got more chooks, but will 4 be warm enough in the winter

OOh, definitely too few I'd say - you should add a couple more for warmth!

 

No, seriously - four will be fine, they tend to snuggle up together (who wouldn't) but they won't be too cold in the Cube as it's insulated; I had four in my Cube and they were fine. It sounds like a darn good excuse for a couple more hens though!

I've had 3 one year and 4 the next in the cube they are fine all winter.

Thank you for your replys. I was hoping to get a couple of ex-battery next year to add to my flock and to give them a good home. I wanted to get a bit of experience first.

I have 4 in a cube. They can still squash themselves into a corner if they want to

I have 4 chickens in a Classic and was just thinking "ooh there's loads of room in there for a few more!"
