beach chick
so, the new WIR is up and they moved in Sat . Sun was mite-spraying day , and yesterday I moved the 50m of electric fence from the old area to the new area. It took me about 3 hours with all the faffing about - moving it, untangling it, moving it again, setting it up, trying to get straight lines, and then banging in the posts and pegging the bottom down and so on . couldnt sort the battery out til OH got home, so let them have half an hour out there while I could watch them, and then we electrified things last night. so, this morning.... opened the porthole, and they all trotted out for a leg stretch. went out a few minutes ago to find them ALL sitting in the aubiose in the run, in the sunshine, and only the rabbits bounding about in my wonderful new, clean, lots of grass, no poo fenced area! beach chick
well they ventured out again - and are finding the bit immediately outside the run particularly fascinating, as there is (was!) long grass/weeds there which is obviously fertile ground for scratching. not to mention around the tree inside the electric fence which I couldnt mow around and dont have a strimmer - they have exposed the poor thing's roots!!! however they put themselves away as good as gold, and the bunnies did too - which was a relief, as it was chucking it down when I got back with youngest at 6 and didnt relish chasing the bunnies round the field! I'm shutting the cube door at night at the moment, as it gives the bunnies a bit more peace and space in the mornings before the girls get up - generally they all get on fine, but Fairy, at the bottom of the chook pecking order, sees it as her role to hand out some nastiness to the bunnies. They are getting wise to her now.
