LittleOwl
We have 8 girls, and I have been getting a softie every day for about a week (apart from yesterday, when I had one less egg than normal so assumed the softie girl hadn't laid)... and someone else must be easing up on her laying as we haven't had a full quota all week. As 6 of our girls all lay similar coloured eggs we have no idea who the culprits are. All of them look and behave normally, and have been free ranging for 2 to 4 hours a day. Two days ago I noticed a black tar-type poo, and there are a few others around, but certainly not everywhere - I have no idea whether this is related to the softies or not, and what it means. Does anyone have any advice or observations please? Thank you.
Plum
I've noticed they get dark ones after eating wildlife. Frogs in our case
Chicken Shirl
When mine eat lizzards they get black droppings.
LittleOwl
Thanks so much for your replies, makes sense! They do like a good juicy frog, and I think they have even been rooting around after mice! I am on holiday tomorrow leaving them in the capable hands of my petsitter, and I feel a bit better. I'm hoping then that my "softie" girl is simply winding down her career as all appear healthy, but will make sure that they are all watched extra closely
