beach chick
has anyone tried this one? I ordered some from flytesofancy last night, because it was about £7 a bale (cheaper than the aubiose I got) and it made the delivery charge more reasonable (women's logic there!!). I have probably too much aubiose in the WIR at the moment, so am planning to use this stuff in the cube under poo trays and in the nest box. poss also for the quail, once their rabbit hutches arrive. chicken bark
Not tried it but please let me know how you find it (absorbancy, compostability etc). I'm always interested to see if there is cheaper and better alternatives out there.
beach chick
just received my FsoF delivery, and have cleaned out chooks and quail this morning, so will be trying it later today. must admit I am slightly disappointed by the size of the bale which is only 7kg for £7 , but that's really my fault for not picking it up on the website . means it's not cheap tho! but good old FsoF, speedy efficient delivery etc, and I'm always usually really pleased with their stuff. WitchHazel
With the non-availability of Aubiose, my local pet-supplies-delivery-man (Graham, from http://www.freepetfooddelivery.co.uk/) supplied me with 3 bales of this a little while ago, and I opened the first one today. It's different to Aubiose (and Hemcore). It's much darker, and much looser. The individual pieces are smiliar sized to Aubiose, but seem harder. I put most of a bale on the Run floor, to top up the Aubiose, and I put the rest in one half of my Cube nextbox. The other half has the last of my fresh Aubiose in. On the run floor it looks good, and it smells pleasant. Not sure what it is, doesn't really smell of citronella more of..eucalypytus?? In the nest box, it'll be interesting to see if the Girls choose one side over the other. I don't know what size the bale was. It was smaller and lighter than a bale of Aubiose, but it must have been more than 7kg, I also don't know what the cost was - I got three bales of this, 1x20kg sack of corn and 2x20kg sacks of Layers pellets, delivery came while I was out and DH paid and couldn't remember the total never mind the individual items! I'll ask Graham next time I place an order. I'll update this thread later when I've had a chance to see how the product performs.
