Pedicure Advice Please

Recommended Posts

Hello fellow Omleteers,

Long time since I've posted as things have been going well for the girls.

However Jerry seems to have a malteser sized hard ball of poo stuck on her toe which I can't shift.

I'm pretty sure this has been mentioned before. I assume I need to soak her foot but any advice on how as she is not too keen

Do you have a mixer tap? if so turn it on and get the water warm then hold chook tight so her wings are against her sides and stick her foot under the water

Let the water soak in for a while then get a cocktail stick (or similar) and push it in to the mud with the stick against the clawwork around the mud against the nail and eventually it will loosen and ping off

When one of ours suffered, we stood her in a bucket of warm water, which she seemed to like. Didn't take very long - but guess depends on the size of the problem!

Our other chook then also showed huge amounts of interest, and had to go in as well... :wall:

I had to do this yesterday, I took Augustas into our shower room as I thought she would be nervous and thereby calmer. Almost worked a treat - she ended up standing on the taps, flapping wildly. Then she climbed up my arm. I got all the balls off but it would have been easier if I'd had another pair of hands to hold down her wings as the balls were well and truly moulded on.
