When I make the porridge for the girlies I use porridge oats and water from the kettle, then i let it cool down. I test it with my little finger and let them have it warmish, but i was wondering how hot is too hot ?

I serve it to my chickens luke warm as I would for the dogs.

Same here, I give my girls a bit of warm porridge in the early evening or first thing in the morning when it is a bit frosty out there and they absolutely love it. Same as you, I also test it with my little finger and give it to them when it's luke warm. So far I have not had any complaints (or - God forbid - scalding injuries).

 

So all in all I think if the temperature is ok for your finger, it's ok for the chicks.

Same here - luke warm. I think I'd rather err on the side of caution.
