chickiepiggies
Hello, Does anyone know if i can trim her feathers on her feet, they seem quite long and drag on the wet ground. Thanks
Redwing
Yes you can trim them. not too close though Never trim feathers while a chook is moulting and growing new ones as the shafts are full of blood in new feathers, and dont do it before the adult feathers on a youngster are all through
brambles
I also have a blue cochin. I tend to keep her in the run if it is too wet outside. I have some hoof cream too (with lavender and tea tree) which I apply before she goes out with the others if she's desperate. The outdoor run area is due a re-barking and I have some more biodry (thanks claret!) to put down, so hopefully this will help her through the winter. My partridge cochin is having a moultarama and is similarly challenged.
