Brooding hen has chicks in nesting box

Glad they are getting along - they are so cute Started letting Magpie out with the other bantams on Friday - they are a bit mean and leave her on her own al lot (even Fifi who is with her in the run). Today she was following them so hopefully they will include her soon

Can i ask why are frizzles so rare? I have scoured the internet today again.. I cannot find any anywhere there is some listed suppliers down south but they dont even have any ??? hmmmmm

 

Frizzles as a pure breed (heavy clean legged breed) are reasonably rare but there is a Frizzle club who can provide a list of breeders if required

 

Other breeds are available in frizzle feathering - these arent Frizzles and are usually Silkies, Pekins or Polands

 

When you are breeding for frizzle feathers you need one parent to be plain feathered so naturally you get plain feathered offspring, the chances can be 50-75% plain, of the frizzle feathered chicks that you do get roughly 50% will be male so thats why frizzle feathered females are hard to get hold of.

I never knew that. One of my Frizzles, Dee Dee, is certainly a Poland (judging by her hair do), but the other, little Daisy, is I think, the real thing with no top knot and clean legs. From what you say I will consider myelf honoured to have her (Actually I'd consider myself honoured to have any hen with her sweet but plucky disposition.)
