brambles
My cream legbar worked herself up into a state today as my araucana laid an egg for the first time. Since then whenever she clucks it is very ho"Ooops, word censored!". The legbar constantly paced, made nesting noises and over a few hours squawked very loudly (egg announcement noises). She seems very well in herself, is drinking and eating heartily, has a good red comb and no discharge at all from eyes/nose (apart from the live yoghurt she covered herself in). The drinking water has a probiotic in it and her bedtime treat has bokashi bran with oats. Apart from that she has layers pellets. I'm hoping that she has just strained her voice with all of the shouting and overexcitement of another hen coming into lay, but am concerned not to miss anything - it is very cold here, -6 this morning, although they all snuggle together in the cube. I've put extra straw in. I'd value advice. Thanks.
Patricia W
Our Phillip gets ho"Ooops, word censored!" from time to time, but seems to recover after a day or two. I should just keep an eye on her
brambles
Thanks Patricia. I really do think she has just worked herself up into a state, she's a nervy little thing at the best of time, but so sweet. We've a good chicken vet nearby if I do need to zoom her over. Hopefully it'll settle when she does.
brambles
She seems ok today. The light Sussex came into lay today for the first time - I'm putting the shouting down to legbar hormones!
