Bramble
I just use a slightly damp piece of kitchen roll, it seems to work fine, but I know some would say that's the wrong thing to do ...
beach chick
I just leave them be til I want to use them, and then if particularly grubby will give them a rub with a bit of damp kitchen roll. something about if you wash them when you bring them in you remove the coating that helps them stay fresh. Charlottechicken
If they are really, really dirty I leave it to dry before picking any big bits off then use an almost dry cloth the same temperature as the eggs to gently wipe off the worst bits. Like beack chick says I also do this just before I use them.
