After the awful weekend with Bella being ill with peritonitis things seemed a lot calmer today.

 

Never good to get too complacent is it

 

OH came home early to take me to the dentist. He went to give Bella and the other girls some treats and for some silly reason he took them a tin of peas to eat. As he was pouring them into a bowl Bella jumped and caught the bit between the top of her beak and the beginning of her comb on a sharp edge of the can and started bleeding profusely. We used flour and applied pressure to the wound but it took absolutely ages for the bleeding to slow down and we had to leave her as I couldn't cancel my dental appt as it was for 2hrs and it would have cost me over £200 in cancellation fees.

 

I don't enjoy the dentist at the best of times but honestly it was awful as I spent the whole time really worried about how Bella would be when we got home and envisioned having to rush her back to the vets to have stitches. Anyway we just got home and checked on her and the bleeding has stopped so we have just put some violet spray on her.

Has made me realise it's never a good idea to go into the run with anything remotely sharp as the girls do tend to jump up to see what you have got.

oh bless her. still, at least infection is unlikely in this weather.
