Cinnamon
I have just made a batch of Balsamic & Basil picked shallots, & have potted them into those nice Le Parfait 'Kilenr' type jars with the snap daown metal sealer. But they are leaking, pretty badly too They are brand new........................... Any ideas what I can do to save my pickles (I have no other jars,& these are for gifts, hence the posh new pots )
DebC
How frustrating Did you heat sterilise the jars? if not Perhaps you should tip everything out and try putting it back into warm jars so that rubber seals are softer. Or are they leaking because the gap is too big, maybe new seals or using 2 at a time. Sorry can't be much more help. Hope something works it would be such a shame not to be able to give them as gifts after all that hard work.
Cinnamon
Yep,they were fresh from the Dishwasher, seals & all I have hoiked out some very small jam jars with plastic coated lids, the Lakeland ones,& am now running them through the Dishwasher to sterlise them. Its really annoying,as these onions are pistured in those sort of jars & they look so pretty, but at least I have something else to put them in to now, even if I won't get many onions per jar I can wash the Kilners again & use them to put the Christmas Biscotti in instead. I had bought Lock & Locks for those, but I suppose I will tragically have to use those myself
Christian
Are they the proper Le Parfait seals Sarah? I have found that they are the only ones that don't leak.
Cinnamon
Yes,they are - I am very disappointed. Never had a problem with them before either, but they will still get used for the Biscotti,so all is not lost.
