Mr Rhode Island Red
Just wondering... My 8 hens have a choice of four nest boxes to lay in, but only on two ocassions have I found that they didn't lay all their eggs in the same box. It seems taht its a case of follow the leader, because I was cleaning the hen house one morning and I moved the two eggs that had been laid already into the box beside it. When I collected the eggs in the evening, they were all in that nesting box that I had left the other two eggs in. Does anyone find that their hens do this as well? Burtie14
Yes, I read about this the other day. Apparently hens like the reassurance of knowing that another chicken has successfully laid an egg there! Ours have a choice of two places to lay, they tend to stick to the traditional nestbox but occasionally we'll get a couple in the new one.
