Dolly
We seem to have lice on one of the girls so I've treated them both with Xeno 200 spray but have a few questions if anyone can help.... Is there an egg withdrawl period (it'll be typical if there is, as Lola laid her first egg for months the day after I treated her!) How long after application will it be before the critters die? Should I be treating the eglu too - will lice live in the housing? Is this the best treatment product or is there something better/more effective? Thanks all! The Dogmother
Xeno spot-on does have an egg withdrawal period, from memory it is 7 days. It is best used as a preventative and dse the birds quarterly. If they have lice, then I'd also recommend that you spray the birds as well - Johnsons anti-mite spray does this well and there are other permethrin-based sprays on the market too. You need to spray twice, a week apart. It's always best to treat the housing on a regular basis anyway; I use Total Mite Kill Concentrate to clean and spray it, and Buz Busters powder to sprinkle around the housing. I dust bath in their run is always a good idea in the war against lice; mine contains wood ash and some Diatom.
Egluntyne
There is an egg withdrawal period as it is *not licensed for use in poultry in the UK..
Dolly
Will it be okay spraying them with the Johnsons anti mite which contains permethrin so close to using the Xeno 200 spray which contains ivermectin (sprayed them with this 6 days ago)? I'm just worried about overdosing. Thanks
The Dogmother
I usually do it on the same day, but that's just what I do, not a recommendation.
