katiew7103
Hi all, your advice would be much appreciated. I lost one of my chooks last week for no apparent reason. I last wormed them in early October would it do any harm to worm them again just to be sure. They are in a WIR and do not come out so they are foraging on the same earth all the time and possibly reinfecting themselves what do you think ladies and gentlemen? Also they are used to treats if they are only getting the medicated feed for a week in this weather will they be alright? Am I just fussing? Ain't Nobody Here
Sorry to hear about your girl . My girls are in a fairly small walk in run so I use Stalosan F and garden lime to keep the ground from becoming nasty .
Plum
I think ANH is right you can treat the birds but if you do not treat the ground they will reinfect so either dig it out and replace the earth or put down stalosanf or garden lime to sweeten the ground. katiew7103
I have never heard of garden lime what is it and where can I buy it, do I need to use both or will one do?
Plum
only one and garden lime is bought from garden centres. http://www.diy.com/diy/jsp/bq/nav.jsp?action=detail&fh_secondid=10777729&fh_location=//catalog01/en_GB/categories%3C%7B9372012%7D/categories%3C%7B9372020%7D/categories%3C%7B9372095%7D/specificationsProductType=plant_care/specificationsSpecificProductType=plant___vegetable_food&tmcampid=4&tmad=c&ecamp=cse_go&CAWELAID=482681500 so brush back any bedding material you may have on the ground and sprinkle and dig into earth
Chucky Mama
There is no harm in worming your chickens again. If you used Flubenvet as per the instructions however, it is unlikely (although not impossible) that they would have enough worms of sufficient size to have caused death in such a short time.
