I spent some time this morning thanking whoever put us on this planet for this bitterly cold weather as I poo picked in record time as the stuff is rock solid. I was away last weekend so the girls have not had a proper clean for two weeks. But it was so easy to do. I've cleaned out the nest box and I've also put down a bit more Bedmax in the runs (quite like this and the girls do too) and given all the drinkers and feeders a good old scrub. I think the girls were happy for some FRing time as they have not been out for a couple of weeks but were really delighted to scramble back home once I moved the fencing so they could get back in the runs as the whole garden is rock solid and still has a good sprinkling of snow. No mealworm bribes were needed.

 

I've trimmed the sprouts and peeled the spuds for tomorrow so I boiled all the trimmings and peelings up for girly Christmas treats and one little pot has some Poultry Spice and saltanas added so it's like chooky mince pies.

 

Our scrambled eggs and smoked salmon breakfast is going to be so lush tomorrow thanks to them - I will raise a glass of bucks fizz to our lovely girls in appreciation of their 'hard work'.

Due to the snow I was only able to clean out the nesting box last weekend in a freezing blizard so today while the girls FR I gave them a good clean out and then dug up the new potatoes for tomorrow (Christmas day) I did this last year and it was so nice to have great tasting potatoes with our meal. I must say I was freezing by the time I came in and wondered 'Is all this worth it'. Then I think 'Yes it is' Happy with life

Yep, I've been cleaning the girls out this afternoon and bought extra sprouts and broccoli for them

Ours got a good clean out too this afternoon - run and cube, while they free ranged

 

They've got their own sprout tree for tomorrow as their xmas treat.
