When I was buying my chickens horse bedding on Friday I saw an advert for hairless guinea pigs, I didn't know they existed anyone else heard of them?

When they first starting appearing I must admit I didnt like them, but since have seen in the flesh, and they do look quite cute.

 

I have heard they can tend to have specific health problems due to them being skinnies but I dont know if there is any truth in it. I know pure breed dogs can have specific problems to the particular breed so perhaps it is right for the skinny pigs.

Apparently you do have to and they have to have a jumper on in winter! I think they can get lots of skin conditions and you need to put moisturiser on them all the time.

Skinny Pigs are popular over here. They are hugely into little critters like these and sell loads of potions and lotions for them. They are not cheap either!

I love my hairless and have kept them for a while now. This is a pic of Elton my dalmatian skinny.

 

Other than keeping them indoors and draught free they are the same as any other guinea pig. No need for sweaters in the winter, or moisturiser and no additional skin or health problems. They are very confident, friendly little pigs.
