Wonky feet - Sad update

Recommended Posts

Bella came from the breeder with wonky feet. They aren’t crossed over and all slant in the same direction. She has been managing fine until now. The last couple of days I have noticed her sat down more and when she is walking she isn’t spreading her toes so isn’t stable.

I have trimmed her nails because I thought that might be the problem if they weren’t wearing down as they should. This hasn’t helped, is there anything else I can do?

The others aren’t picking on her and she is eating and drinking.

I wondered if now she is bigger she just can’t manage, if so she may have to be PTS because it will not be much of a life for her. I don’t want this because she is a lovely girl and not even laying yet.

My Flo developed a funny limp and she seemed to be OK apart from that.

The limp got better but she now walks as though she is showing you the bottom of her feet before she puts her left foot down - it is most odd, but she seems OK - eating and drinking and being loud.

I'd keep an eye on it, and take her to the vet if you are not happy.

Chooks are hardly little things - I worry about their every move, but they don't seem to care!

Let us know how she is getting on

Bella was no better this morning so I took her to the vet. He said it was her malformed feet and there was nothing he could do and she would only get worse so I have had her PTS.

I am very cross at the breeder for selling her to us. The Legbars we got from them have all had troubles and have gone to the vet at different times and we only got them in August!
