Facebook settings question

Recommended Posts

I have noticed that if I request a friend, before they accept that request I am able to see all their status updates.

I have just had a request from a complete stranger - someone I have never heard of & I have not accepted it,but I also do not want him to get my updates on his wall, but I can't see a way of diddling the settings to prevent it...any ideas?

It depends on what settings an individual has....you can have Facebook set up so everyone can see your status, just friends, or friends of friends, so if the person you contact has it set up so everyone can see, then you will be able to see it. If they have a more private setting then you won't. So if your set up is private, then Ii think you're ok. Shall I request you as a friend and see if I can see your status as a test, it also means we are then friends

I see - I can only be seen by my actual friends,so I should be ok 8)

I adjusted it that way a while back - the request thing was new to me though ...I requested someone & they didn't accept, but I suddenly got all their updates on to my wall.

Anyhow, glad that this stranger can't see my updates :lol:

I have had the same thing happen to me too Sarah. I added someone who I went to school with and before he had accepted me I had a week or so of being able to see photos he had been tagged in.

I give up with FB. I feel it has a mind of its own and does random things at will. It adds and un adds people. I have had mail from people asking why I have deleted them I also dont always get messages that have been sent to me and I also seem to get only a cirtain number of peoples postings appearing on my wall. I feel I should have an apology posted on my profile as I would never knowingly ignore or delete anyone.

A wholy unreliable form of communication.

It has its up sides though :D
