doctors girls
just want to know what is the shelf of the nice lovely fresh eggs that we collect from our hens as the supermarket ones seem to have a long expiry date on them john
Egluntyne
I'd say no longer than 6 weeks. Some of the eggs in supermarkets are very old. I don't keep mine in the fridge, so I err on the side of caution and don't keep them longer than a month. In practice, this isn't ever an issue as they are used or given away well before the month is up.
Lavenders_Blue
I don't keep my eggs in the fridge either, and I would have said 4 weeks max too. But if you're in any doubt as to the freshness you can pop your eggs in a bowl of water. If they sink or stand on end they are perfectly fine to eat but if they float they have gone off and shouldn't be eaten.
