One of my ex-batts, Thyme had all the symptoms of Renal Disease last week. She was suddenly lame and her left leg would claw up and she would sink to a sitting position. Having looked after an old hen of a friend that died of this last year, I wasn't hopeful but took her to the vet anyway. The vet said I was right to think "kidney" but it might be a kidney infection rather than disease, as she couldn't feel any swellings.

 

It looks like the vet might be right. After a week, on Metacam and Baytril, I can report Thyme seems to have made a good recovery and is now running around and scratching just like before.

 

Well done Thyme! Fingers crossed she stays that way.
