Clur
Every night without fail, we shut our 3 girls in the Eglu. So far so good? Every morning without fail, our 3 girls are in the run squawking at the top of their lungs. Seemingly Ariel - the head girl - charges the door from the inside and busts it open. Surely she shouldn't be able to do this?! It's not such a problem in the winter but now with the lighter mornings it's a noisy problem. We have the Eglu and feeder run (Omlet run feeds into the main one) covered with a black tarpaulin to keep it as dark as possible to delay the breakout, but there they are squawking at 6.30am every day. Aaaargh! Annyone else ever experience this or got a way to solve the problem? It's been happening for a long time now, but with the previous dark mornings it wasn't such a big issue! Egluntyne
Are you pressing the handle down fully?
Patricia W
I agree- sounds as though the door isn't closing properly. If there is any gunk in the mechanism the door won't close, but it won't open if the handle is fully depressed.
Clur
We de-gunk the door regularly and the handle is pressed down. As weird as it sounds, Ariel our biggest hen, charges the door as we can hear her thumping it. We never had this with our last girls and it has us rather bamboozled!
