Eggie232
Margot my head hen hasn't been herself for a few days now. Here are her symptoms, hope someone can give me some advice as I'm really worried about her! 1. Last out of cube in morning, last in at night 2. Lethargic, weak, quiet, not socialising with group 3. Not interested in eating her favourite foods (only eats warm pellet mash- spoon fed!) 4. Not drinking much 5. No strength in her legs- can't jump up onto ladder 6. Greenish, runny poos 7. Floppy comb
Olly
Sorry to hear that - afraid it could be any number of things. A bit more information, please - how old is she? Is she still laying? Has she moulted lately? Have your hens been wormed recently?
Chucky Mama
It could be a number of things but I would a little concerned about peritonitis. Have a gentle feel of her abdomen to see if it feels tight or fluid filled. Keeping her hydrated is the key at the moment so encourage her to drink or eat mash type foods (weetabix, porridge, baby food)
coco
Have you got a vet that knows about chickens near you. If she is not eating and drinking on her own she will dehydrate quickly, my cream legbar was poorly last week and lost over a pound in weight. I took her to the vet last night who has prescribed Baytril for a gastric infection and she also gave her a Metacam injection. She is 100 percent better today and was eating her pellets this morning.
