J Lougheed
My chickens are very happy with the Eglu Cube but we are finding it difficult to move and it needs 2 of us. Like many people we keep it by the allotment which is not as flat as a billiard table and lifting it over small humps and mole hills is virtually impossible as there is nothing to get a purchase on - The wire is thin and flexible and the back not only very heavy but too slippy to lift. Does anyone have any brilliant ideas to help out 2 OAP's? (This apart it is brilliant and we love not having to bend down to reach the nesting box!) Redwing
I'd be tempted to permenantly site it and use woodchip inside the run with boards around it to keep it all in Welcome to the forum
Chucky Mama
I pull out the poo trays and so that I can get my hand or I run the roof back a little (mind your fingers though)
Olly
I sympathise, mine was on uneven ground and it used to get stuck in a rut. However I used to find that once I'd got it up on the wheels, and balanced, it was fairly easy to move - push the roof back to get a better grip, and have the other person lifting the front of the run up and pulling. I used to find once I'd got a bit of momentum going it was easier. I would be tempted to make a permanent site though, as suggested above. Lorax
We have this problem too. I wish it had handles at the side, like some arks do, but with a 3m run (like ours has) it's really hard isn't it? And we're not OAPs! I don't think the Cube is anywhere near as mobile as made out. That said, love it, but I had visions of moving it every week...yeh right. Am now planning a WIR like everyone seems to eventually!
craftyhunnypie
I really do not like my cube! I'd much prefer it to be a couple of eglu classics. The thing is though, the chooks love it & whatever they like stays! Emma.x
Lorax
Actually Emma that's a good point! I think if I knew what I now do I'd get two Classics and a WIR straight away. Easier to look after, move and more practical. The price would be comparable though and the Cube can fit 10 birds into the house whereas the Classic only has four each.
