2009 Omlet cube and run for sale

My dh is really handy, but we're very short of time and getting a WIR sorted is priority as we can't grow anything until the chickens are contained (they freerange at the moment, they have a 2m Cube run but we only keep them locked up in that if we're away).

 

The space we have for the WIR is about 8ft by 26ft. Ish. I think getting one from Avaries4U would be really quite a lot, plus the land is a bit uneven so we'd have to do a bit of work ourselves anyway.

 

Any thoughts? Did you make your own? Was it hard? Where did you get the 'stuff'?

I made my own WIR, it was quite easy but not sure I'd do another in a hurry I bought the parts from B&Q

 

Another option is to buy ready made panels from a company like Bay Animal Housing and assemble it yourself

My OH built my WIR, it took about two months but that wa only doing it at the weekends, he also built the wooden house into it. We got the lengths of wood for the frame from B and Q, the weld mesh from Hills of Devon. The house is made from tongue and groove, we got our local timber merchant to cut all the pieces to size. At least the weather is getting better, we spent a week in minus temperatures putting it together as the ground was uneven.

I have just built my WIR & i wont be doing it again in a hurry!

 

I am glad i did tho much cheaper than buying one.

 

I think mine took longer because i try to cram to much into my weekends plus i had restricted working space

 

I've done a post with pics.

 

I got mesh online & used roof strutts from travis perkins, i dont think cost more than £100 for 2.5 x 1.8m plu underneath the cube
