Just thought that people might want to know, if they haven't spied it already, that on Tuesday 29th March on Radio 4 (FM) at 11.00 there will be a discussion on chicken keeping.

 

I've been reading the Radio Times review (p130) and it looks as if it could be amusing. Quote from Natlie Haynes "Chicken-keepers, I was rapidly discovering, aren't just in it for the eggs". Well we could have told her that.

 

Might be better however if our OHs don't listen in because "Once she realised it was well over £20 each time she cracked a shell, she decided to stop counting [the cost]" Oops

 

Last bit that made me smile "those who are gardening their way to a good life might do better to give chickens a wide berth: they have no respect for the distinction between your food supply and theirs" How true

Now if doctors prescribed chickens for mental health & to keep sane, it would save the NHS a fortune!

Craftyhunnyie and Cheaky Chook, I couldn't agree more, I can't tell you what a positive effect my chooks have had on me in the 8 months I have had them, tried to explain that to my GP but she didn't seem convinced

I think the programme is called "Attila the Hen". I'm sure Egluntyne had a chicken called that.

 

Anyway, as I always tell people when they tackle me about the costs.....my chickens are pets who give me eggs, not livestock!
