Cheryl
Hello Jenny and Charlie, yes I have heard that in France they are quite common, I know they are excellent for eggs and meat. I would never eat one of mine but I just think they look so lovely.. its funny because you can hardly get hold of them over here, I suppose because we are keeping them more as pets and their looks are a little unconventional. I have always been drawn to uniqueness, and originality, if you met me you'd see what I mean..

Cheryl
This cockerel dilemma is really irritating.. I live in a totally built up area in London, I have people living three sides of me all backing from different directions onto my garden, up until last weekend I had 3 cockerels, now I have 2, they crow from 5am in the morning and noone has said a word. I have had them for about a year.. Personally I think if you have neighbours who are NICE.. and like you, they wont say anything, the ones that do are the same ones who would moan at anything.. I always give everyone eggs.. and I am generally known around here, as 'The Mad Woman in the Pink house'.. I seem to be allowed my cockerels and I'm not sure why.. Maybe they are scared of me.. tee hee
jennydavies
Hi Cheryl, Yes, over here people do keep Naked Necks for eggs and also for the table. Our neighbours do their own "table preparation" and we received an oven ready, corn fed Naked Neck in a swap for a unwanted cock (which we had bought as a hen) the meat was really delicious, the best we have ever tasted. The cock by the way is still in charge of his harem of ladies and he is called Raymondo, he is sooo handsome. He always has around thirty ladies to choose from, lucky boy !! He reminds us of Rocky from Chicken Run, all his ladies swoon over him, bless we laugh because when we had him, "he" was called Blanche Jenny and Charlie. jennydavies
We have some photo's of Raymondo while "he" was still Blanche. I will try to get a couple of him as he is now. This one is just as Blanche was turning into Raymondo. Now he has a beautiful irredescent green crescent tail and lovely big comb and wattles.
