chicken bark
My chicken keeping is going from strength to strength (or addiction to obsession ). Started with 3 (didn't we all) now have 11 and 3 ducks and eggs in the incubator and have more hatching eggs on order and plans for breeding and showing.... pause for breath. So rather than keep filling up my electric fenced area I thought I would suggest to my OH about me cobbling together a WIR next to the kitchen. Okay was the answer. No tuts or anything! One side will be a stone retaining wall, I have some 6ft by 3ft panels and will make more and baton them to the wall. The ground is very hard and was once covered in gravel but that has mainly been trodden in. So I'll cover the run and put bedding down. It will look very home made but should do the job, as it is on hard ground should be fairly fox unfriendly. Don't know what size it will be yet but I'm guessing 12 x 6 x 6 and it will be for some bantams. Can't wait to get started!

Exciting, you can't have too many chickens, can you? Well it doesn't seem so. I guess how many depends on when the money runs out!
mollyripkim
That sounds really good, wish I had room for a WIR. However mustn't complain as have cube on order. It's definately addictive, I started off with three, now have five and two more on their way can't wait!
chicken bark
Mollyripkim enjoy your cube. I quite fancy one but finances mean they will have to manage with a converted rabbit hutch. It will be under cover so should be warm enough for them. Not as easy to clean as plastic though.
